This e-learning module provides the base principles on how gender can influence the standards present in all of the products (and processes) that surround us. It targets specifically standards development organizations and the measures which they should take to ensure that the standards they develop take into account the needs of both women and men. It is also interesting for experts on technical committees as well as the general public in order to better understand the pervasive nature of standards and how developing gender-responsive standards creates a better environment for the entire society.
The course aims to provide insights and recommendations for standards development organizations and their experts to ensure that standards development takes into account gender inclusion. After completing this course, participants should be able to:
- Understand the role of gender in standards
- Identify practical steps in which to ensure that standards and their development is gender-inclusive
